At Aquatic Plants of Florida, we have greenhouses, cutting houses, and irrigated fields that enhance our shrub production capabilities enabling us to grow volume containerized shrubs annually. Additionally, we have permitted harvest sites where we collect seed and/or plants. We hand select only the finest shrubs for your projects and offer self pick-up, delivery or third-party shipping. Note, we can contract grow other species or sizes upon request.

Batis maritima - Salt Wort or Turtleweed
Low growing perennial shrub with high salinity tolerance. Found throughout Southeast and Florida. Slow grower and slow sprawling spread rate. Often difficult to initially establish. Limited suitability for wildlife. Habitat includes salt marshes, upper edges of tidal flats, margins of mangrove stands, and between scattered mangroves. Tolerates brief flooding and saturated soils. Reaches 12-18 inches in height, 3 ft. in width. Flowers spring - summer. Fruit is a succulent berry with seeds.

Herbaceous perennial up to 3.5 ft. with large, attractive yellow flowers, found throughout coastal Florida. Habitats include coastal areas such as salt marshes, mangroves and dune environments. Creates large colonies. B. frutescens is the most widespread of the two Florida species. Found throughout the Southeast. Flowers April through August.

A large shrub found throughout the Southeast. Found near swales, ditches, ponds and lake margins. Flowers look like an off white, round ball with spikes that appear in summer. Attracts insects and animals but can be toxic to horses.

Vaccinium corymbosum - Highbush Blueberry
Highbush blueberry is a salt tolerant shrub that achieves tall or "high" heights - up to 10+ ft. Corymbosum is found in back dunes and upland treed areas. This species produces blueberries from April-October, which serve as a wildlife food source. Shrub produces a white to light pink flower. Florida is outside its native range but is now commonly occuring. Zones 7+.
