A sharp or "needle" like, perennial herb grass up to 4.5 ft. that is found in tidal marshes on the banks of rivers and brackish waterways. Forms very dense colonies that often appear dark gray, silver, green or "black" from a distance. Tall grass often mats to one side. Can pierce clothing and human skin causing minor skin infections. Uniola paniculata - Grass - Sea Oats
Perennial dune grass (i.e. frontal areas) know for its extensive root mats, which can reach over 15+ ft. Commonly utilized for sand stabilization after beach renourishment projects. Found in Zones 7+. Salt, over wash, drought, and sun tolerance. Grows and recruits quickly in warm weather. Landscape value for coastal communities. Reaches 5+ ft. height. Grass becomes dense and recruits vegetatively. Spikelets Spring-Fall. Leaves similar in pale green color and length to Panic Grass but thinner. Protected by state statutes. Seed is a wildlife food source.

Vaccinium corymbosum - Highbush Blueberry
Highbush blueberry is a salt tolerant shrub that achieves tall or "high" heights - up to 10+ ft. Corymbosum is found in back dunes and upland treed areas. This species produces blueberries from April-October, which serve as a wildlife food source. Shrub produces a white to light pink flower. Florida is outside its native range but is now commonly occuring. Zones 7+.
